“Wine is a documentary of so many interconnected parts… the land and its soils, the period of time in which it was grown and made, and the actions of the people dedicated to its production. It is the combination of these that make wine so interesting.” —Thomas Rivers Brown, Winemaker
2015 QTR Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
The 2015 Vintage is remembered by vintners for its superb quality and low yields. Unseasonably warm temperatures throughout the growing season resulted in an early bud break and one of our earliest recorded harvests. Only seven barrels produced, our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon continues to portray Napa Valley hillside characteristics we truly love - bright acidity, lush tannins, and a complex structure.
The acidity, tannins, and multitude of layers showcase notes of red currant, ripe red cherry, black pepper, and spices of nutmeg and clove. Hints of tobacco leaf, black tea leaf, plum, and dried cranberry round out the palate. Although tighter in structure, the wine coats your mouth with a long-lasting finish. The balance and depth of this wine offers the ability to age for decades to come. We recommend this wine be decanted 30 minutes prior to enjoying.
2017 QTR Chenin Blanc, Napa Valley
First grafted in 2015, Viticulturist Jim Barbour hand-selected Chenin Blanc budwood from Chappellet and developed a single block on the QTR Estate. The block consists of disrupted claystone bedrock with cobbles and boulders of volcanic matter. This rocky and dry soil provides the perfect foundation for a Chenin Blanc with round structure and incredible complexity.
With less than 14 planted acres recorded in the Napa Valley, this unique white varietal offers a variety of notes both on the nose and the palate. The 2017 Chenin Blanc exhibits beautiful floral aromas of jasmine, honeysuckle, and lemon blossoms. The palate compliments the floral aromas with intricate layers of lime zest, lemon, tropical fruit, melon, hints of honeysuckle, and a minerality to round out the finish. While complex and refreshing, this Chenin Blanc's vibrant acidity and creamy minerality makes for a perfect pairing with Oysters, Halibut or Salmon.
